Matthew Travis, a former deputy director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, has been hired to lead the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body (CMMC-AB), the third-party entity that will implement the new cybersecurity standards for defense contractors. As CEO, Travis will work with the board to oversee the pool of assessors who will review and certify the IT systems of some 300,000 contractors in the defense industrial base.

Prior to joining CISA, Travis was a Navy officer and served as a White House liaison from the Office of the Secretary of the Navy.
