Crowell & Moring recently reported that there has been a significant increase in scams targeting users of the System for Award Management (SAM.gov). Recent phishing scams and efforts to gain access to sensitive information registrations (e.g., bank and tax details) indicate sophisticated actors are attempting to manipulate SAM registrations, possibly for access to payments from the government, among other reasons. The emails appear to come from either GSA’s Federal Service Desk or may look like requests through SAM.gov for an individual user to access a registration.
