The Department of Homeland Security’s Procurement Innovation Lab (PIL) has endeavored to improve efficiency and effectiveness in federal procurement by experimenting with numerous innovative acquisition techniques. Join Polly Hall (Director) and Scott Simpson (Digital Transformation Lead) for a discussion of the Lab’s federal-wide effort to apply machine learning and artificial intelligence in order to facilitate and streamline past performance evaluations.

This initiative, known as the Artificial Intelligence for Past Performance Project, has employed agile techniques to enable the design and development of evaluation-enhancing capabilities, and in so doing, has fostered the creation of a commercial marketplace from which agencies may soon avail themselves of these capabilities. Ms. Hall and Mr. Simpson will discuss the history, current state, and future state of the Project, as well as the legal implications associated with the implementation of the technologies currently in development.
