Topic: “The Intersection of Government Procurement and Trademarks: Government Perspective on Program Trademarks”
Recently, the Navy issued NMCARS Subpart 5227.90—Trademark Rights Under Government Contracts as a mechanism to ensure the Navy is able to use its official program Designations with other contractors without interference by a contractor claiming trademark ownership of that Designation. This panel will explore the unique needs of the Government in acquiring trademark ownership or rights in these types of marks, and what contractors should expect if these needs intersect with the contractor’s trademark portfolio and usage.
