The May call will focus on StateRAMP, which was born from the need for a standardized approach to the cybersecurity standard required from service providers offering solutions to state and local governments. StateRAMP seeks to simplify security by providing state and local governments a common method for verification of cloud security so that procurement officials, privacy officers, and information security officers can be confident that government-selected third-party providers using or offering IaaS, SaaS, and/or PaaS solutions that processes, stores, and/or transmits government data including PII, PHI, and/or PCI meet and maintain the government’s published cybersecurity policies. StateRAMP Executive Director, Leah McGrath, Ted Cotterill, the Chief Privacy Officer for the State of Indiana, and NASPO President-Elect Jaime Schorr will discuss how StateRAMP works to trust but verify cloud security for state and local governments, why verified cloud security is important at the state and local level, future procurement and contracting considerations, and how providers and government can get involved with StateRAMP.
