In today’s media environment, it is not uncommon for an explosive report (whether fully accurate or not) in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, or other publication, to spur state, local, and federal regulators; state, local, and federal enforcement agencies; grassroots organizations; and lawmakers to pounce.
