While the general trend in diversity and inclusion training has been towards addressing anti-bias and anti-racism principles, as well as critical race theory, a recently issued Executive Order (EO 13950) titled “Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping” effectively bans these and other related concepts from the diversity and inclusion training provided by federal contractors and grantees. Specifically, the EO prohibits federal contractors and grant recipients from providing diversity, inclusion, and anti-discrimination training that includes a variety of so-called “divisive concepts” that do not reflect the realities of race and gender discrimination in this country. It also provides for strict enforcement mechanisms and severe penalties for any purported violations. While the recent presidential election and forthcoming change in administrations may ultimately affect the longevity of this EO, there may still be attempts by the federal government to pursue investigations and enforcement actions. This webinar will examine the potential adverse effects the EO could have on the diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts of companies and other organizations doing business with the federal government.
