The 2020 National Defense Authorization Act brings a range of cyber, IT personnel, and acquisition policy changes. Here are some of the topics Federal Computer Week will be tracking in the New Year:
- A study to evaluate how consumption-based solutions, which involve an agency getting billed for how much it uses, would affect DoD contracts.
- A report due in March on whether there needs to be a new acquisition assistant secretary for space policy.
- The defense acquisition chief’s report to Congress on commercial edge computing technologies and best practices for warfighting systems.
- A quadrennial cyber review beginning in 2022, assessing costs, benefits, and whether a new cyber force should be a separate uniformed service.
- A zero-based review of cyber and information technology contractors, military, and civilian personnel, due in January 2021.
- The appointment of a new principal information operations advisor to the defense secretary on all aspects of information operations conducted by the department.
