SolarWinds CEO Suggests Congress Establish Breach Safe Harbor

SolarWinds CEO Sudhakar Ramakrishna, in advance of testimony to Congress about the company’s role in recent breaches of federal agencies, has suggested allowing victims of cybersecurity breaches to avoid punishment by reporting incidents to the government. He called for a single government entity to which companies can report these incidents, something that might also address restrictive contractual arrangements individual agencies enter with their vendors. He also encouraged the government to tighten its partnership with the private sector.
