Tom Fox describes Boeing as one of “the American companies with the worst ethical cultures in the news these days,” with the deadly crashes of the 737 Max and “ethical failures and toxic culture… starting with the very top of the organization all the way down through the organization.”

Now, new CEO Dave Calhoun says that in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic fallout, Boeing needs a $60 billion bailout from the federal government to support some 2.5 million U.S. jobs. “Unfortunately, we have but no choice to bail out Boeing. The company is both too important to the US economy but also US national security,” Fox laments. He argues, however, “that the federal government should mandate a monitorship over Boeing for any bailout dollars.”
