Matthew C. McPherson of Kansas has been sentenced to 28 months in prison and forfeiture of over $5.5 million, for defrauding the government to get contracts set aside for service-disabled veterans and certified minorities. McPherson – who is neither a veteran nor a certified minority – admitted to using a business arrangement with an African-American service-disabled veteran to falsely qualify a business that he and conspirators actually owned and controlled, to win almost 200 set-aside contracts, worth approximately $335 million.
