South Korean contractor J&J Korea Inc. has been sentenced to pay nearly $9 million dollars in criminal fines and restitution, for rigging bids and committing fraud in connection with subcontract work at U.S. military installations in South Korea.

The company conspired with another company to rig bids on millions of dollars in repair and maintenance at U.S military hospitals in South Korea. The work was related to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracts for operation and maintenance support services at U.S. military facilities around the world. The scheme ran from at least November 2018 to March 2021, and cause the DoD to overpay by approximately $3.6 million. The company is ordered to pay restitution in that amount, plus a $5 million fine.
