Radical Compliance – Matt Kelly comments that “SOX compliance is a bit of a mess.”

Kelly reports that the costs of compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley fell last year, but companies of all sizes generally spent more time on it, suggesting to him that they’re trying to develop more automated processes, but are struggling to get them right. He speculates that a substantial part of the problem is that staff are stretched thin: “They’re so busy with the here-and-now of risk assessments, control testing, and remediation, and their day job of conducting other audits, that they don’t have time to step back and build a smarter, more strategic, more automated approach.”
