CEO of CMMC AB Says Recruitment of Assessors Needs to be “More Aggressive or Proactive”

The DoD’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program will require 300,000 contractors to get inspections, but there are not yet enough third-party assessors to do that in the necessary timeframe. CMMC Accreditation Body CEO Matthew Travis recently acknowledged that “we need to do a more aggressive or proactive job of recruiting” to address it. For example, they will approach assessors who work on other inspection regimes, such as the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). Wondering whether there are “enough Americans who are interested in becoming assessors,” Travis noted that they “can make a pretty good living doing this type of work.”
