Brian Krebs celebrates the volunteer collaboration of information security professionals working to protect the public and those fighting the COVID-19 pandemic from cybercriminals, but cautions that these cooperative relationships may fade once the crisis passes.

One of the largest industry groups is the COVID-19 Cyber Threat Coalition, which comprises rough 3,000 security professionals who are collecting, vetting, and sharing new intelligence about cyber threats. A coalition called the COVID-19 CTI League spans more than 40 countries and includes professionals in senior positions at such major companies as Microsoft and Amazon. Among the more mature organizations is the Cyber Threat Alliance, a group founded in 2017 that counts among its members more than two dozen major cybersecurity firms that regularly share threat intelligence.

CTA president Michael Daniel argues that preserving and enhancing this information sharing effort post-COVID is one of the biggest policy issues facing the federal government over the next few years.
