DoD Advises Defense Contractors Not to Wait for CMMC

Defense Department officials say that the current geopolitical climate – especially surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine – should encourage contractors to improve their cybersecurity as quickly as possible, regardless of the requirements and status of the CMMC. Ukrainian government and private web sites have experienced cyberattacks among the offline carnage, and Russia-based hackers have warned that cyberattacks against Russia in support of Ukraine will result in retaliation.
