The Guardian reports that the heads of 100 UK NGOs call upon the prime minister, Keir Starmer, to urgently increase the humanitarian and development budget. Since 2019, 29% of the UK’s official development assistance (ODA) budget has been consumed by the housing of refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. The letter raises concern that the UK will lose credibility if they show up empty-handed at COP29 and the UN general assembly.
