As the foreign aid freeze deepens, its global impact continues to grow. Several organizations have been monitoring the effects on people, programs, and organizations worldwide.

  • Center for Global Development (CGD): CGD found that eight low-income and eight lower-middle-income countries stand to lose over 20% of their total foreign assistance if the USAID freeze persists. While Saudi Arabia and UAE have become significant donors, China has pledged $50 billion to Africa over the next three years. Read their blog here.
  • Global Aid Freeze by Accountability Lab: This initiative surveys organizations worldwide affected by the aid freeze. Out of over 560 respondents, less than half of the affected organizations have financial reserves to last more than three months. Read the latest results here.
  • USAID Stop Work: Managing an ongoing survey, this initiative estimates that over 50,000 jobs have been lost in the U.S. and over 100,000 globally due to the stop work order, suspension, and payment freeze. Access the tracker and survey here.
  • Technomile’s GovSearchAI: Using GovSearchAI, Technomile conducts a DOGE impact analysis by agency and contractor. The analysis evaluates the work ordered versus unexecuted ceiling and options value to generate a score. The USAID report, which includes all contractors, suggests that 81% of vendors working with USAID fall into the ‘Very High Impact’ category. This underscores the heavy reliance of many USAID implementing partners on USAID funding. Read the brief analysis and sign-up for the free agency report here.
