DBAI Waiver for Ukraine Extended Two Years

The Defense Base Act (DBA) Insurance waiver for employees in Ukraine has been extended for two years.

This means that Ukrainian employees working under U.S. government contracts are exempt from DBA coverage requirements.
The waiver does not extend to U.S. citizens or residents and the employee must be covered by local workers’ compensation insurance. The local insurance must provide benefits for work-related injuries or death without cost to the employee.
In short, the extended waiver ensures that local employees are protected under Ukrainian laws, while U.S. contractors are relieved from the DBA’s requirements, provided they comply with local insurance regulations.
