Worried about a “disjointed” response to what could be the biggest hack in American history, Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) – chair and vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee – have urged the government to assign an individual to head the response.

“The federal government’s response so far has lacked the leadership and coordination warranted by a significant cyber event, and we have little confidence that we are on the shortest path to recovery,” the senators wrote to the Director of National Intelligence, the directors of the NSA and FBI, and the acting director of CISA. Newly confirmed DNI Avril Haines had committed in her hearings to provide open channels of communication with the committee to keep members abreast of new developments.
